fita · Drone mapping · Drone surveying and mapping

The website and SEO of a drone mapping company

fita does surveying and mapping with drones (LiDAR, photogrammetry, thermography) from Xàtiva, for engineering firms, contractors and developers. Its old website had no blog, no structured data for Google and no page for each service. I built the new website and its search positioning together, because in this sector clients search for “LiDAR drone” or “contour lines” before they search for a company. It has been live since 16 October 2026.

The starting point

Where it started

Before

  • A website with no blog, no structured data for Google and no page for each service.
  • No page built for searches such as “LiDAR drone”, “contour lines” or “point cloud”.
  • No rankings to measure: the old website did not show up with keywords in SE Ranking, so it started from zero.
  • A website on a builder with a monthly fee.

The challenge

To show up on Google for service and map product searches, in a niche with small volumes and low difficulty where specific content can break in, and to look at the same time like the serious company an engineering firm expects before asking for a proposal.

What was done

Piece by piece, nothing left half-done

Search positioning (SEO)

  • Keyword research with SE Ranking before deciding which pages were needed: real volume and difficulty for service, product and local searches.
  • A page for each search intent: 8 services, 10 map products, 7 sectors and 5 areas (Valencia, Alicante, Castellón, Murcia and Albacete).
  • Structured data for Google: professional service, services, frequently asked questions, breadcrumbs and articles.
  • Its own title and description on every page, a sitemap and links between service, product and article.

A blog with planned content

  • A topic plan taken from the keyword research decides which article comes next.
  • Each article follows a content guide: only permitted facts, figures with their conditions and nothing invented, no projects, no prices, no certifications.
  • No article goes out without my review.
  • 4 articles published from day one, in Spanish and in English.

Design and brand

  • Its own art direction: the night and navy of the logo, a single signal-orange accent and technical typography.
  • A home page video that is not downloaded with data saver or “reduce motion”, and has a pause button.
  • A tabbed menu with a services drop-down, and a sector picker.
  • Images of the deliverables (orthophoto, digital terrain model, contour lines, point cloud) generated from open data of the IGN, Spain’s national geographic institute.

Contact and trust

  • A single call to action: “Request a technical proposal”.
  • A form that sends straight from the website, without opening the visitor’s email program, and that notifies by email.
  • Technical accuracy figures with their conditions (typical error, clear surface, reference system), so that an engineer can follow them.

Clients from abroad

  • A complete English version, with translated addresses and a flag selector.
  • Without promising what is not there: the legal pages stay in Spanish and the website does not promise support in English.

Performance and technology

  • Static HTML on a server managed by Meridiano, with the fonts on its own domain and the cache configured.
  • Photos in WebP in several sizes and with their space reserved: the page does not jump while loading.
  • Move from the previous hosting with no downtime: the DNS and the email were copied before anything was changed.

Live

The published website, at real speed

Half a minute through www.fita.es: the home page with the background video, the services menu, the page of a service and a blog article. It was recorded on the published website, not on a mock-up.

The fonts load from its own domain and Google analytics only switches on if the visitor accepts it.

Search positioning

A page for everything people search for

The SEO started before the design: with SE Ranking, the sector’s real searches (services, map products and areas) were measured, and the pages the website needed came out of that. In this niche volumes are small and difficulty is low: you win with specific, well-structured content.

Every service, product and area has its own page, with its title, its description and its structured data. The questions an engineer asks before requesting a proposal are answered on the page itself.

  • 8 services, 10 map products, 7 sectors and 5 areas, each with its own page.
  • Structured data for Google on every template.
  • Internal links between service, product and article, using the same vocabulary.

Blog

A blog that brings visitors, article by article

The blog brings in the searches of people who are not yet looking for a company: “what is LiDAR”, “DTM and DSM”, “contour lines”. Each topic comes from a plan based on the keyword research.

Each article follows a content guide that forbids making things up and goes through my review before it is published.

  • The topics come from the keyword research, not from guesswork.
  • Each article links to the service and the product it talks about.
  • The client does not have to write anything.

How it looks

A page for each map product: what it is, which formats it comes in and how accurate it is.

Reference projects, with no client names and the image marked as illustrative.

How it was done

From day one to running

  1. First

    Keywords and direction

Search research with SE Ranking and sector references. The page plan, the palette and the design rules came out of it.

  2. Then

    Build

Services, products, sectors, areas, reference projects, blog and English version, with the fonts on its own domain.

  3. After that

    Review with the client

A private preview for the client to review, with several rounds of changes.

  4. Finally

    Launch and blog

Website on the server, DNS and email moved with a prior copy, Lighthouse and tests on the published website, and the blog content plan under way.

Live

Live since 16 October 2026 at www.fita.es. It is too early to talk about rankings and enquiries and I will not make any up: when there is data from Search Console and from the form, it will appear here with its date. In the meantime, the blog keeps growing.
