Clotoides · Surveying · Surveying, Cadastre and Land Registry

Rebuilding a surveying company’s website without losing what already ranked

Clotoides is a classic surveying company: Cadastre and Land Registry, boundary surveys and construction surveying, with offices in Xàtiva and Xàbia. Its WordPress website, from 2022, already showed up on Google, and that was the first thing that could not be broken. I rebuilt it from scratch, with design, logo, copy and SEO, keeping all its addresses. It has been live since 17 October 2026.

The starting point

Where it started

Before

  • A WordPress website since 2022, with 119 addresses already on Google: 37 pages, 55 articles, 4 categories and 23 tags.
  • 5 addresses that already returned a 404 error and were still linked from the blog itself.
  • Images from the old website that could not be reused.

The challenge

To rebuild the website with a design worthy of a demanding client (villas, foreign buyers, architects, lawyers) without losing a single one of the addresses Google already knew.

What was done

Piece by piece, nothing left half-done

Search positioning without losing what was there

  • A map of the 119 old addresses, checked one by one: all of them still respond on the new website, including WordPress’s “-2” suffixes and the articles at the root.
  • 301 redirects for the 5 addresses that already returned an error and for WordPress leftovers (sitemaps and feeds).
  • Keyword research with SE Ranking and new pages for Murcia and Albacete, besides Valencia and Alicante.
  • An English version with the same addresses as the Spanish one, so that every page has its pair.
  • Structured data, a sitemap and its own title and description on every page.

A blog with reviewed content

  • 74 articles in Spanish and in English: the 55 it already had, reviewed and without promotions, plus 19 new ones with anonymised client cases.
  • Every new article comes out in both languages, from a topic plan and a content guide.
  • No article goes out without my review and it only states what can be checked.

Design and brand

  • A “drawing sheet” direction: white background, golden lines and ink, with the colours and typefaces the client set.
  • A new logo based on the previous one: the word “clotoides” with a globe of meridians and parallels in the first “o”.
  • A real cadastral map for each area, drawn from open data of the Cadastre and the IGN.
  • Plan-style frames with corner marks and numbered section headers, like the title block of a drawing.

An entrance for every client

  • Entrances for private owners, estate agents and buyers, lawyers and notaries, architects, contractors and engineering firms.
  • Pages for services (Cadastre and Land Registry, construction surveying, cartographic analysis), areas and technology.
  • A completed works page with real cases, with no data that identifies the property or its owners.

Contact

  • A form that starts with the intent (buy, sell, build or renovate, resolve a discrepancy, enquire) and asks for the cadastral reference.
  • It sends straight from the website, without opening the visitor’s email program.
  • Floating buttons for WhatsApp, phone and email.

Legal and technical

  • A cookie notice with “Accept” and “Reject” of equal weight: Google analytics only loads if accepted.
  • Static HTML on a server managed by Meridiano, with the fonts on its own domain.
  • The DNS was copied before anything was changed, to go live with no downtime.

Live

The published website, at real speed

Half a minute through www.clotoides.com: the home page with the Cadastre land parcels, the menus, the page of an area with its map and the blog. It was recorded on the published website.

Each area carries a real cadastral map, drawn from open Cadastre data: it is not a stock photo or an illustration, it is the land parcel layout of that district.

Search positioning

Changing website without losing what was there

When a website already shows up on Google, rebuilding it is risky: an address that disappears is a page that is lost. Before designing anything, the 119 old addresses were inventoried and checked, one by one, to make sure the new website keeps them.

The ones that already returned an error got 301 redirects, and so did what WordPress left behind. New pages were also added for Murcia and Albacete, with the searches measured in SE Ranking.

  • 119 addresses kept: 37 pages, 55 articles, 4 categories and 23 tags.
  • An English version with the same addresses as the Spanish one.
  • Structured data, a sitemap and its own title and description on every page.

Blog

A 74-article blog that keeps growing

The blog is where Clotoides explains what clients ask themselves before deciding: which formats a surveyor delivers, when a boundary survey is needed, what to check before buying. The 55 articles it already had were kept, without promotions, and 19 were added with anonymised client cases, all in Spanish and in English.

Every new article comes out in both languages, from a topic plan and a content guide that forbids making things up. No article is published without my review.

  • Every article in both languages, at the same address.
  • Real cases with no data that identifies the property or its owners.
  • Articles the client contributes follow the same rules.

In numbers

What is behind it

Facts about the work, not business results: those are published when there is real data.

296
pages, in Spanish and in English
119
addresses of the old website kept, so the search positioning is not lost
74
blog articles, in both languages
100
for accessibility, best practices and SEO, and 97-100 for performance (Lighthouse, measured on the published website)

How it was done

From day one to running

  1. First

An inventory of what already worked

The 119 addresses of the old website, its articles and its links, to know what could not be touched.

  2. Then

    Direction and build

Design, logo, templates for each type of page and areas with their cadastral map, with a private preview for the client.

  3. After that

    Rounds with the client

Four rounds of changes: contrast, more human copy, an entrance for each type of client and the completed works page.

  4. Finally

    Launch and blog

Website and DNS on the server, a check of the 119 addresses and the redirects, Lighthouse and tests on the published website, and the blog content plan.

Live

Live since 17 October 2026 at www.clotoides.com. It is too early to say what Google does with the new website and I will not make up results: when there is Search Console data, it will appear here with its date. The starting point was not to lose what was already there and to add new pages on top.
